Air View is another handy feature that builds the case for surfing your Note 10 device with the S Pen out and ready. With Air View, you can simply hover over web links, pictures, or calendar events to preview more information in a pop-up window.
If you have a different workflow, though, you can customize these options for shortcuts to various apps or functions like Google Translate via the hovering pen or magnifying the screen. Not satisfied with these options? You can change what happens altogether when you take out the S Pen from the start, albeit not with too many other actions. Namely, you can go directly into creating a note or have the device simply do nothing.
This means it knows when the pen is being used and can switch automatically to this input from typing and vice versa. When in One Note just start writing with the S Pen and it immediately changes input modes for you. From here, you can easily switch between handwriting notes and typing with the virtual keyboard.

You can select just part of the screen to save as an image with square, circle, and free-form tools. Various photo and video modes, including night and macro shots, super slow-motion, and an enhanced directional microphone mode for capturing audio from faraway sources give you more ways to capture your day or evening. Complete setup by downloading the Tech Expert app from your app store. While it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the newer phone, the screen still looks great and the cameras perform well. It's also been marked down since the Note 10 and 10 Plus release, so it's a much better deal.
Read the Note 9 review. By now you're probably well aware that the headphone jack has disappeared from the Note 10 Plus, so if you are a fan of wired headphones the choice is easy: the Note 9.
There's also no dongle provided in the box of the Note 10 Plus if you do want to connect 3. The Note 9 has some other design cues that are absent from the more expensive phone, such as the notification light and a fingerprint scanner at the back. The way you turn off the phone is slightly different on both: with the Note 9 the power button is on the right while the Note 10 Plus has a remappable button and the volume rocker to the left of the screen. Note: you can also remap the Bixby button on the Note 9. When it comes to display quality, both phones are excellent. The Note 10 Plus gives you more screen real estate even though the overall dimensions are similar to the Note 9 , thanks to the 6.
The 6.
I'll admit the Note 9 is a little easier to use one-handed as it's a tiny bit narrower than the Note 10 Plus but I preferred the newer phone for when I was able to use it with both hands: kicking back watching videos or using the S Pen. The material finish on the Note 10 Plus looks fabulous but it is a fingerprint magnet.
As soon as I took it out of the box, I'd smudged up the back. You can, of course, use a case, but then you may lose the iridescent effect from the aura glow or aura blue finishes if you choose those colors. Then again, you may not need to use a case because the Note 10 Plus uses Gorilla Glass 6 on the front and back to protect against drops. The Note 9 uses the previous generation Gorilla Glass 5. One reason to buy a Samsung Galaxy Note over any other Galaxy or Android phone is because of the stylus. I didn't find there was much difference between the sensitivity and accuracy of the S Pen on the Note 10 Plus compared to the Note 9, although you do get a couple additional features if you go for the newer phone.
Air gestures let you control some apps like the camera or YouTube by pressing the S Pen button and moving the stylus side to side, up and down or even in a circle. It might seem like a gimmick on paper but I actually enjoyed using it, especially when it came to switching between modes remotely on the camera or changing tracks in a music app like Spotify.
You can also use the Note 10 Plus to transcribe your handwriting from the S Pen automatically. It's fairly accurate, although it can get things wrong if you have particularly messy handwriting. The Note 9 doesn't have air gestures, but it does have Bluetooth so you can use it as a remote to take photos, or customize it further for some other apps like the Gallery in the settings menu. One of my favorite additions to the Note 10 Plus is the ultra wide-angle camera that accompanies the regular wide-angle and 2x telephoto lens on the Note 10 Plus.
